BECHUKOSAI
Dvar Torah
After the Tochacha, in which the Torah specifies terrifying curses that will come upon Klal Yisrael should they forsake the Torah c"v, the Pasuk states "and i remembered My covenant with Yaakov...Yitzchok...and Avraham...." Why are the Avos mentioned directly following the terrible curses? The Sh'lah Hakadosh says that the Avos are mentioned here to add a level of stringency on to the Aveiros that Klal Yisrael does. When a member of a royal family who grew up in the palace starts a rebellion, the sin is a lot greater in the king's eyes than if the rebellion was started by an impartial citizen. So too, H-shem reminds us that we are held to a higher standard because of where we come from - the Avos Hakedoshim - and therefore we must be extremely careful regarding our actions because our aveiros are considered much worse c"v...
2) One of the Berachos listed in the beginnng og Bechukosai is "And I will cause wild beasts to withdraw from the land".
The Ba'al Haturim relates that the numerical value of the words "V'Hishbati Chaya Ra'ah" ( "And I will cause to withdraw") equals the same numerical value of the words "Eilu Arbah Medinos: Bavel, Madai, Yavan, Edom". (These four nations: Bavel, Madai, Yavan and Edom.) (1,020) This shows that the wild animals will be withdrawn - we won't be affected by the pains of Galus.
