The Sharrei Tevunah Purim experience is an incredible one. The emphasis placed on being mekayem all of the Mitzvos Hayom properly ensured that Purim would be as uplifting and inspiring as possible, and it was.
It started off with Purim outside Yerushalayim, on Motzaei Shabbos in Har Shmuel, by Rabbi W’s house. The achdus of the guys from so many different yeshivos, all blended by the atmosphere of palpable simcha was terrific. There were some extremely creative costumes as well!!
Sunday night brought Purim to Yerushalayim, and Yeshiva’s Mesibah. After a beautiful reading of the Megilla by Rabbi Scheller, we showed our Purim shpiel video which was enjoyed by all. The night continued with a siyum on Meseches Megilla by R’Schellers night seder chabura, Rabbi Preil’s hilarious grammen , and spirited dancing for hours.
Dancing is an expression of emotion, almost a language of sorts. When a Rebbi and Talmid dance together surrounded by the rest of their peers and members of Yeshiva, the music fades, time stands still, and an unspoken conversation takes place between their beaming faces and knowing eyes, telling of hours on intensive talks, loads of effort, and an immeasurable amount of care; a genuine bond forged through Torah learning. As the long Winter Zman comes to a close, each Talmid had plenty to dance with his Rabbeim for, a culmination of hard work and resulting gain.
Krias Megilla the following morning was followed by a Yeshivas Mordechai Hatzaddik learning program, which was also one of the required hours for members of Rabbi Geller’s Purim Kollel. After the Rosh Hayeshiva returned with the Bochurim he took to see his Rosh Hayeshiva and we davened Mincha, it was off! So many Mitzvos to be taken care of and so little time! Shalach Manos were delivered between friends around the area, and we made our way to Rabbi Fishman’s house where we enjoyed great food and Purim spirit. Then it was off to Rabbi Geller, where singing, dancing, and a siyum further added to our Simchas Purim. After that, the Yeshiva went to Rabbi Bartfeld’s home for the Purim Seudah with the Rosh Hayeshiva. The atmosphere was incredible; the amazing food, singing & dancing, and emotional moments with the Yeshiva created D’veikus and feelings of great Ratzon toward Hakadosh Baruch Hu that will surely be remembered for years to come.
I have been here in Eretz Yisroel for quite some time now, and I have quickly gotten used to most aspects of life, yet each time a Yom Tov rolls around I am amazed anew. There is truly nothing like it!! A huge Thank-You to the Rosh Hayeshiva and the rest of the Hanhala for making this Purim one for the books.
